Freedom Bank Is Ready to Help Amid the Federal Shutdown

October 1, 2025

As we have done at prior times of systemic and economic uncertainty, I am reaching out today to share what we know about the federal government shutdown that began at midnight on Oct. 1 and how Freedom Bank is prepared to assist anyone affected. If you are a federal employee, government contractor, or in some way impacted, we are here to help.

While we hope members of Congress and the administration can reach agreement, we think it is prudent for companies and clients across the Northern Virginia region to prepare for the possibility of more protracted negotiations and an extended shutdown.

We recognize and appreciate that some of our customers may be concerned about how a federal government shutdown could affect things such as paychecks for federal employees and government contractors, federal benefits payments, and other government programs. Please contact your banker or reach us via phone at 703-242-5300 or email info@freedom.bank and let us know your situation.

We stand ready to work with and support our customers who may be facing any hardships due to the current circumstances. We encourage federal employees and others in need to reach out to us as soon as possible to discuss their personal situation and see what help may be available, including potential fee waivers, payment deadline extensions, or other accommodation that help you manage through this period.

A government shutdown will have no direct impact on our bank’s operations. We are open for business and fully functional regardless of what is happening in the nation’s capital. This is an ongoing issue over spending within the federal government that does not directly affect Freedom Bank or our ability to operate and serve customers. While we are monitoring the situation closely, our bank and the broader banking sector are strong.

Regardless of what is happening in Washington, you can rest assured that the banking system is safe and your deposits will be there when you need them. Customers’ deposits are protected by FDIC insurance. In the more than 90-year history of the FDIC, no one has ever lost a penny of an insured deposit.

Thank you for your trust and relationship with Freedom Bank and we look forward to working with our customers to alleviate the impact of the shutdown and minimize the disruptions this may cause.

Best regards,

Joe
